We are happy to announce that Sunfield Center in collaboration with the University of Michigan School of Kinesiology is offering two Introductory Clinical Workshops on the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-Second Edition (ADOS-2) in March 2015.

Sunfield Center is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Sunfield Center maintains responsibility for this program and its content. Sunfield Center designates the following CEs for the ADOS2 trainings:

ADOS-2 (Modules 1-4) 2-day training:   14 CE credits
ADOS-2 (Toddler Module) 1 day training: 7 CE credits

ADOS-2 (Modules 1-4) Introductory Clinical Workshop
Dates: Monday, June 5 & Tuesday, June 6 2017
(Monday 8:00am-4:30pm and Tuesday 8:00am-4:30pm)

ADOS-2 (Toddler Module) Introductory Clinical Workshop
Dates: Wednesday, June 7, 2017
(Wednesday 8:00am-4:30pm)

Both introductory workshops will be held at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

The Sunfield Center Introductory Clinical ADOS-2 Workshops are designed for clinicians with a prior background in autism and formal testing, including psychologists, physicians, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, social workers as well as professionals and graduate students in related fields.

During the first two days of training participants will be introduced to the  administration and scoring of Modules 1-4. On the third day, participants will be introduced to the administration and scoring of the Toddler Module. Learning objectives include: Observe administration of ADOS-2, recognize red flags for behaviors that are indicative of a diagnosis of Autism, discuss and practice coding of the ADOS-2, practice using the algorithm to determine autism classification, select different modules appropriate for use with individuals of different ages and language levels and develop assessment skills to evaluate individuals to rule out autism.

Trainers will be providing the workshop through a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, videos, scoring discussions and live administration of the instrument.

The ADOS-2 is a semi-structured, standardized assessment instrument that allows us to accurately assess and diagnose autism and pervasive developmental disorders in individuals suspected of having autism. The ADOS-2 consists of various activities that provide interesting, standard contexts in which interaction can occur, thus allowing for observation of social and communicative behavior. The ADOS-2 can be used with individuals across ages, developmental levels, and language skills.

On May 17th 2012, the ADOS-2, which is a revision of the ADOS with updated protocols and a new Toddler Module, was published through Western Psychological Services (WPS). Individuals who participate in both of these workshops will be trained in the updated ADOS-2 (Modules 1-4) as well as in the Toddler Module.

Participants must be registered or have completed an ADOS-2 (Modules 1-4) Clinical Workshop prior to registering for the ADOS-2 (Toddler Module) Workshop.
