We are an ABA based, experiential Social Skills group that allows members to practice specific social skills that will help them in their day to day lives.
PsychSystems offers a 10 week interactive social skills training group to help children with high functioning ASD (previously referred to as Asperger’s syndrome) learn improve their social interaction abilities.
Children with high functioning ASD often exhibit difficulties in the social areas of life. They frequently have few, if any, friends, they are teased and often feel like they “don’t fit in”. Social skills training has been found to be one of the best ways to help these children learn the various ‘social rules’ that other people take for granted.
To ensure that each child receives the best outcome possible, PsychSystems therapists use a structured group method that adheres to established ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) principles. Each group uses informational learning experiences combined with role play and social interaction to allow each participant to interface with the relevant skill in different ways. This allows us to meet each child at his or her level and learning style.
Our Adolescent group (ages 8-14) meets at our Wayne offices on Thursdays from 6pm-7:30pm.
Our young children’s group (4-7) meets at the Autism Center in Harper woods Tuesdays from 4:30- 6pm.
Openings in the group are limited, please contact us for details.
PsychSystems/Starr Commonwealth accepts many insurance plans and we participate in the Community Mental Health Autism Waiver for those children who are eligible for Medicaid. We can also develop a payment plan for some services. Please contact us for details.
