This year’s conference will focus on the many treatment and recovery options available, including therapy, medications, healthy living (diet and exercise), social determinants, and more. The conference is designed to improve understanding of mental health diagnoses, and increase awareness and access to new evidenced-based treatments. Our attendees represent a cross section of stakeholders in Michigan’s mental healthcare system, including consumers, caregivers, law enforcement, judicial officials, advocates, representatives from hospitals, clinics, and community mental health organizations. Conference attendees will participate in a series of engaging workshops and presentations designed to increase awareness and encourage participation in their communities. Workshops will detail best practices, new research and recovery models. The conference will also feature a Panel Discussion about what/how state and federal policy changes could impact the delivery of mental healthcare in Michigan. Invited speakers include advocates, members of the Michigan’s legislature, representatives from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and other policy makers. In addition, the conference will include a “NAMI Affiliate Development Track” filled with valuable information for sustaining a strong affiliate, fundraising, and completing the re-affiliation process. If you have interest in mental illness as an individual, caregiver, family member, professional, school professional, mental health professional, peer support, place of worship, or any other, you cannot miss this conference.
