Education Specialist
Barbara Brish is the Education Specialist for the Autism Alliance of Michigan’s MiNavigator. Barbara brings to the position 26 years’ experience in public education, as a school psychologist, special education director, and university adjunct professor. Barbara holds multiple degrees and certificates: Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, Master Degrees in Psychology, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Industrial Relations, a Specialist Degree in School Psychology, Certification in Special Education Administration/Central Office Administration and the Interdisciplinary Certificate in Autism. As a special education director Barbara’s responsibilities included administering the district’s special education program along with directing three county center based programs including the program for children with autism.

Audra Parsons

Insurance and Adult Service Specialist
Audra Parsons is the Insurance and Adult Service Specialist for the Autism Alliance of Michigan’s new Navigator program. She has experience in both Adult Services for those with disabilities and Insurance Regulation. She has a Master’s in Counseling and Bachelor of Arts in Family Life Education and is a graduate of the State of Michigan, School for Leadership. She has a Facilitator/Trainer Certificate for both Enhancing Employment Outcomes (EEO) and the Kooser Program – The Hidden Impact of Hearing Loss. Audra participates in the Autism Council Meetings (Adult/transition, insurance and provider). Audra has worked for the State of Michigan for over 15 years where she has taken the lead in many successful programs in the Department of Human Resources – Child and Family Programs and Michigan Rehabilitation Services. She has also worked for the Department of Insurance and Financial Services where she developed and oversaw protocols and procedures to manage the autism reimbursement fund. This responsibility required regular communication with insurers, self-funded companies adding autism coverage, providers, families, the Michigan Autism Council, and other state departments.

Sgt. Scott Schuelke

Safety Specialist
Scott is a retired police Sergeant who now works for AAoM and travels throughout Michigan speaking to multiple audiences. His seminars help to increase understanding of safety risks to individuals with autism/special needs in home, school, and community settings. He has trained over 10,000 first responders in the state.
