Her Power works directly with teen girls with disabilities through a unique, four-day, overnight event designed to promote critical thinking about society’s messages, eliminate shame, develop leadership skills and encourage self-acceptance. This event is built on the best practices of the disability justice community and emerging research in female development, and goes beyond self-esteem activities to provide a venue for real self-empowerment.
This event registration fee is on a suggested scale that ranges from $60-$100 per girl. This includes:
We do not wish for cost to be a barrier to any girl; please contact us if you need assistance with the cost. Payment plans can be set up or we also have scholarships for girls to attend.
PLEASE do not hesitate to call Theresa Metzmaker at (517) 333-2477 ext. 326.
You may also check with your local disability agencies (CMH, CIL, ARC, etc.) as they may sponsor you to go.

Her Power is July 25th – July 28th 2019
The media and some adults are continually telling young women how we are supposed to act, who we are supposed to be, and what we are supposed to look like.Together, we will explore what it means to be a teen girl with a disability, in today’s world. You will challenge stereotypes and shatter myths about what it means to be a girl with a disability.
It is time for us to CHALLENGE it all.
At this interactive weekend, we will use hands on activities to learn from each other and teach the world how we see ourselves.
You will find and use your POWER.
You will find your disability PRIDE.
You will find your VOICE.
*This event is only open to high school girls with disabilities (visible and/or invisible) ages 14-19.
Her Power is possible by the generous donations of people like you. Thank you for your support!
