About this Event
SAIL is hosting a kick off event called Absolutely Accessible Upper Peninsula to bring together the general community, architects, builders, contractors and students to educate and promote accessibility throughout the Upper Peninsula. We believe that creating more accessible communities for our citizens will improve physical and mental health of those living with disabilities as well as enrich the lives of those who are currently abled.
Event is from 10am – 1:30pm on October 22nd, 2019 at the Holiday Inn, Marquette.

10:10am Introduction to Absolutely Accessible UP – Lucy Wilcox, MS, MFT, Certified ADA Coordinator and SAIL Accessibility Services Coordinator
10:30am International International Perspectives on Disability and the Right to Accessibility. Experiences of Barriers and Progress in Creating Absolutely Accessible Communities. – Pia Justesen, International Human Rights Lawyer, and Author. Pia’s book ”From the Periphery – Real-Life Stories of Disability” is released on October 1, 2019.
11:15am Construction of an accessible home ‘zero thresholds’ – Allen Beauchamp, owner and co-developer
