Sensory-Friendly Saturday at the Ford Rouge Factory Tour

March 14 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

$4 – $62

Sensory-Friendly Saturday is an event designed for guests on the autism spectrum and with other sensory processing disorders. For this event, a variety of accommodations, activities and more have been put into place to create an inclusive, welcoming and safe space for our guests. Prior to this event, staff members of The Henry Ford received training in how to recognize and communicate with someone with autism.

Please note that the Dearborn Truck Plant will be operating on this day. Loud sounds and some smells from manufactured materials may be present. The goal of Sensory-Friendly Saturday is to put accommodations in place for guests with sensory sensitivities, not to change the experience of the Ford Rouge Factory Tour. Also, please note that there are no eating establishments at the Ford Rouge Factory Tour, though you are welcome to bring snacks to eat at lunch tables.

Your experience includes

  • A 9am early bus ride to the Ford Rouge Factory Tour and an opportunity to begin your experience before the rest of the public. If you plan to take the early bus, sign up here. Please purchase your Ford Rouge Factory Tour tickets online in advance or at the Welcome Center of Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation the day of the event.
  • Noise-cancelling headphones and earplugs available for guests to use.
  • Sound turned down for the day in the Legacy Gallery at the Ford Rouge Factory Tour.
  • Quiet zones designated by signage as calming spaces for guests.
  • Manufacturing-themed activities.
